Marriage is a wonderful experience that man and woman often share,
but sometimes it can also be a hefty weight to carry. There's this joke
that says that in marriage there are three rings that a man gives to a
woman- the engagement ring, the wedding ring and then the suffe-ring.
But kidding aside, marriage is a privilege, but also one that needs
extra care and work. Married couples need a new level of grace and
ability to carry through a relationship and maximise it to it's full
extent.
That's why it's extremely important to involve God in our
marriages.
The Bible gives a beautiful picture of what a marriage should be
like: a cord of three strands that is not easily broken. Those three
strands are the couple plus God.
One of the ways that we invite God into our marriages is to soak
ourselves with His scriptures that will speak life to our relationships
and help us grow more in honouring God through loving our spouses. The
Bible is full of so many scriptures that speak blessing to marriages and
help us love our spouses more. Here are ten scriptures that will help
husbands and wives love each other more through the grace of God.
1. Genesis 4:22
"The man said, "This is now bone of my bones and flesh of my flesh; she shall be called 'woman,' for she was taken out of man."
2. Proverbs 18:22
"He who finds a wife finds what is good and receives favor from the LORD."
3. Proverbs 19:14
"Houses and wealth are inherited from parents, but a prudent wife is from the LORD."
4. Colossians 3:18-19
"Wives, submit to your husbands, as is fitting in the Lord. Husbands, love your wives, and do not be harsh with them."
5. 1 Peter 3:7
"Likewise, husbands, live with your wives in an understanding way,
showing honor to the woman as the weaker vessel, since they are heirs
with you of the grace of life, so that your prayers may not be
hindered."
6. Proverbs 5:18
"Let your fountain be blessed, and rejoice in the wife of your youth."
7. Proverbs 31:10
"A wife of noble character who can find? She is worth far more than rubies."
8. Mark 10:9
"Therefore what God has joined together, let no one separate."
9. Genesis 24:67
"Then Isaac brought her into the tent of Sarah his mother and took
Rebekah, and she became his wife, and he loved her. So Isaac was
comforted after his mother's death."
10. Ephesians 5:25
"Husbands, love your wives, as Christ loved the church and gave himself up for her..."
